Cabela’s separately announced plans to expand its retail footprint, opening two new stores, one in Albuquerque, N.M. — its first in that state — and the other in Chesterfield Township, Mich. Cabela’s is known for its entertaining displays and has said the Albuquerque store will feature a 360-degree mountain and wildlife exhibit with dozens of mounted animals, an indoor archery range and other items.

SANTA TERESA — A Texas oil billionaire has bought land in this fast-growing border industrial hub — a sign, observers say, that momentum is at last on New Mexico’s side and long-simmering tensions between two border communities on either side of the state line may be easing. El Paso’s Paul Foster, chairman of Western Refining Inc., has bought more than 38 acres in an industrial zone of Santa Teresa from Albuquerque-based Titan Development for an undisclosed sum. Foster ranks No. 1,476 on the annual Forbes list of billionaires, which tacks his net worth at $1.22 billion.
Titan Development breaks ground on 85,000 SF project in the NE Heights

The Northeast Heights continues to be a magnet for senior and assisted living facilities. Two senior-focused projects are being developed across the street from one another, both in Titan Development’s 60-acre Santa Monica Place project, located on Santa Monica Avenue NE between Louisiana Boulevard and San Pedro Drive. Titan Development’s senior living arm, Titan Senior Living, broke ground this year on its 85,134-square-foot, 109-unit assisted living facility called Élan Santa Monica. The company had a groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning.
Real estate execs explain why New Mexico should pursue ‘enterprise zones’

A state lawmaker last week introduced legislation that would change the state constitution to allow counties to limit property taxes within so-called “enterprise zones.” New Mexico currently doesn’t allow enterprise zones, a designation used in many states to provide incentives for new developments in blighted and urban areas.
